    Gaming – Demo

    Gaming-Demo

Games are progressively becoming more expensive both time and money.

With new titles costing up to 70 dollars and taking hours to complete, we think it’s not worth dedicating so much time and money to a single experience.

Luckily, there are plenty of demo games you can try so you know exactly what you’ll be paying for.

    Quick Summary

In this post, we will go over:

    • What are demo games?
    • Why you should play a demo before purchasing the game?

    …and more.

So, without further ado, let’s get started.

    What Are Demo Games?

A demo is a limited version of a game that you can try before purchasing it. Think of it as a narrow window to a game. Moreover, you only get access to a few levels and features.

So, how is it different from a trial?

Trials are usually full versions of the game. But, they will offer a restricted amount of gameplay if you haven’t purchased it.

A demo will only let you play one or two levels. Whereas a trial might be a full game that you can play for a few hours before purchase.

If you do purchase the game, the trial then unlocks the entire game, so you won’t have to download it again.

However, if you’re not interested in demos, you can find great recommendations for complete gaming apps and games here.

Why Should You Play a Demo Before Purchasing the Game?

Demo Games Help You Make Smarter Buying Decisions

As we said before, video games are expensive. Even if you buy cheaper games or older titles, the price can add up at the end of the month if you’re an avid gamer.

This is where demos can really help. Not only do they satisfy the desire to play something new, but they’re also completely free.

This way, if you enjoyed the demo and you can think about buying the whole game.

In addition, you’ll also be supporting the game developer along the way.

But, if the game wasn’t what you expected it to be, you’ll get to know that without making any financial commitment.

Playing Demo Games Inspire Developers to Create More

Demos games are not very common in the gaming industry. Sure, you’ll find some here and there like the demo for Metroid Dread of the free version of Minecraft on Playstation.

But, for the number of actual titles available, there is simply no way to try them before you buy.

For the most part, the only option you’ll have is to read game reviews or watch videos online. But, we think you’ll agree with us that they don’t have the same impact as playing the actual thing.

Due to the lack of choice, most of us just drop the money without knowing if it’s worth it or not.

    So, what is the solution?

Well, we suggest you play as many demos as you can. If more people spent time playing demos before buying the game, maybe developers would think to include them more often.

After all, if these studios were hoping to capture as much of an audience as possible, wouldn’t they want that audience to be able to see if a game is right for them?

Moreover, if you have the opportunity to try new games, you might even find other titles that you didn’t know you wanted.

We found this to be true when we tested PSVR. Since VR is still a novel concept, Sony has different demo games that you can try to familiarize yourself with VR and its games. This way we were quickly able to find the games we needed.

    Conclusion

Now that you know what demo games are and their importance, we suggest you always look for them online before you spent your money on an actual game.
