Users who were affected by the bug say that when they click on the “speakers” button, they are automatically switched from their phone to speakers even if there is no other device connected.
They don’t automatically turn their phones into speakers when they press the volume buttons. Instead, they’re asked to choose which option each time.

Potential Workaround
We came across a potential workaround that may help resolve the issue for some people.
Users could get around the prompts by changing their call audio routing setting and choosing the default option for incoming phone calls.
However, it should be noted that if there were multiple Bluetooth-enabled device connected to an iPhone, one would still have to select them manually.
