At CES 2023, Intel will unveil its new line of laptops powered by the latest generation of CPUs called “Raptor Lake.” These new processors will feature up to 24 cores and will be the first ever to reach speeds of 5 GHz.
Intel Features the World’s Fastest-Core i9-13980HX Processor
We now know about five Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake- H X Laptops (SKUs) which were leaked a few months ago.
The lineup was originally going to feature up to an i9 – 13 900 H X with 24 cores, 32 threads, and up to 5.4GHz clock speeds but Intel has since decided to design a ” Halo” SKU which will sit at a tier above and provide the fastest performance of any PC processor out there.
Monster Processor Cores
Meet the Intel Corei9-13980Hx, this monster of a processor is designed to be equipped with eight P-Cores from the Raptor Cove and sixteen E-Cores from the Gracemont architecture.
Take a look at the latest news about the technology world and how it’s progressing.
Ryzen 9 3900X
The full version of Ryzen 9 3900X has 24 cores and 32 thread configurations which is the same as the desktop Core i7-8700K.
The CPU also includes the same 36 MB of Level 3 cache and has a maximum Turbo Frequency of up to 5.0 GHz which is 600 MHz slower than the Core i9‑9900KF/Core i9‑9980HK CPUs.
High-end Core Specifications
Besides the Raptor Lake-P lineup, the standard Intel® Xeon® Scalable Family will feature the high-end Core™ i9-13900K processor with 14 cores (6 + 8 core configurations) and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.2 GHz. It has a base clock speed of 3.1 GHz and supports DDR4 memory at 2666 MHz.
This CPU will also provide a 400 MHz speed boost over its predecessor, the Core i9-11920K.
Flagship Design
Both high-performance Intel Core i9 Rapture Lake laptop lineups will be equipped with flagship designs that will be revealed at CES 2023 alongside higher-performing NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs.
Since these processors are so powerful, we can expect them to be quite hot and they may need a lot of power than regular ones.
AMD’s Dragon Range Laptop CPU Lineup
Intel’s Raptor Lake-HX CPU lineup will be positioned directly against AMD’s Dragon Range Laptop CPU lineup which is also expected to reuse desktop silicon on laptops with up to 16 cores and 32 threads.
