HTC VR Headset
According to reports from The Verge, HTC is planning to release a small, lightweight VR headset that offers full-fledged virtual and augmented reality experiences.
Ye calls it an effort to create something “meaningful and that’s appealing for consumers,” further stating that it’s the culmination of lessons learned from making the HTC Vive Flow and the Vive Focus 3.
Price
If it really wants consumers to buy its headsets, then it has to be less expensive than the $400 Quest 2.
“We’re in an era when consumer VR headsets have been massively subsidized by companies that are trying to vacuum up and take personal data to provide to advertisers,”

“We don’t believe the way that we want to approach it is to compromise on privacy.”

Color Passthrough MR
The unnamed standalone headset has been reported to offer color pass-thru MR, making it more akin to Quest Pro than a see-through AR device such as HoloLens.
Depth Sensor
The upcoming headset contains a 3D camera, which could potentially provide better accuracy when mapping rooms.
Range
It has a wider color gamut than sRGB, which makes it able to display colors more accurately on monitors and smartphones.
Battery
It has an impressive six-hour battery, and it also features 6DOF VR controllers and optical hand tracking.
Weight
It’ll be one of the lightest that is available, but there are still some things we don’t know yet.

Eye-Tracking
It’s unclear whether the Vive Focus will include an integrated head-mounted display (HMD) with built-in gaze-based input capabilities. However, HTC has released several HMDs in the past, so it could be interested in pursuing this feature.
Privacy
One of the concerns that HTC has expressed about its external camera sensors is privacy protection. However, they haven’t said anything definite yet.
Design Leak
HTC’s unnamed headset was allegedly leaked in November, showing off the outer shell and some key specifications.

At the time, an anonymous source claimed that the leak also contained some vague details about the phone’s chipset being faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip found in the second-generation Google Daydream View headset.
None of the information leaked from the hack has been confirmed, but we’ll just have to see when CES 2023 happens next year.
