How to Use Bigscreen VR?
To start Steam in Bigscreen VR mode
- Right-clicking on Bigscreen VR will bring up two options: Launch in VR Mode or Play Remote Desktop Streaming Client.
- With the remote desktop streaming client, you can stream your computer’s display to your VR device so that you can play games in virtual-realty mode.
- Click “Play Remote Desktop Streaming Client.”
What is Bigscreen VR?
Bigscreen VR is an online virtual world where you can meet new people, socialize, view media, and play games. It includes apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, and Oculus Rift.
Some of the most common uses for Bigscreen include:
- Watch videos, watch TV shows, and stream live TV on demand in VR
- Remotely play PC games in VR
- Connect with people
- Live stream concerts with virtual friends around the globe
You can also use the app to connect with people, play games, and watch movies together with up to 11 others.
Bigscreen allows you to access your desktop from anywhere using your phone. It has a lot of other social features, too, so that you can connect to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
What VR Headsets Do Bigscreen Work On?
The following VR headsets can be used with the app:
- All Oculus VR headsets – Quest, Rift, & Rift S
- Valve Index
- All HTC VR headsets are compatible with SteamVR.
- Windows Mixed Reality
To learn how to use Bigscreen VR with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, follow these steps.
Launch Bigscreen from Oculus
Click the three-dot menu button next to Bigscreen. Then choose either Start in VR or Start in Desktop Mode.
If you start the app in virtual reality (VR) mode, you don’t need to go through the remaining steps.
To access remote desktops, select “Remote Desktops” from the menu bar at the top.
Launch Bigscreen VR and Choose Remote Desktop
Now, open up the Bigscreen application in your VR headset. You’ll be prompted to select an environment and then go through some guided setup.
When you’re in your room, go to the Tools menu and choose Remote Desktop. Then press Start.
Sync your VR Headset to Your PC
If you’re having trouble connecting, note your channel ID and then return to Bigscreen on your computer and select your stream type (high/low), and refresh your audio source. Then click Connect.
If you remove your headset, your computer screen will now be streamed into your headset. You’ve successfully set up Bigscreen.
How to Setup Bigscreen VR on the Oculus Quest?
It’s easy to set up Bigscreen VR on an Oculus Quest 2 or 1. Go to the Oculus app on your smartphone and look for “Bigscreen.” If you see it, install it on the device.
You’ll be able to launch BigScreen from your app store alongside your other top Quest titles.
Bigscreen VR Features

Free-to-Watch, Ad-supported Movies
With Pluto TV, Big Screen VR now includes free-to-view, ad-supported content for watching on the go. You can view these videos on the go in any environment within the app.
So far, the free movies available on Bigscreen VR include
- Blair Witch
- Nacho Libre
- Paranormal Activity 4
- Seabiscuit and more.
So far, these free-to-watch films are only available in the US. However, licensing for the UK, Canada, and other regions is currently under development.
Drive-in Movie Theater and Other UI Enhancements
Bigscreen has added an outdoor cinema experience. You can now watch movies outside at a drive-in theatre.
Bigscreen has other plans for its app besides just adding new features. It also has a brand-new user experience to look at.
172+ Free TV Channels
You can watch over 172 specialized television channels from within Bigscreen. These include various programs like:
- Rick and Morty
- The Eric Andre Show
- The Amazing Race
- Wheel of Fortune
- Robot Chicken
You can also watch live space shuttles in VR through the new “To Infinity and Beyond” category.
You can invite your Facebook friend into your show library and watch episodes together within the app.
Virtual LAN Party
With Bigscreen, you can invite your friends into the Bigscreen app while you’re watching TV or streaming movies. You can talk to them live in real-‐time without having to switch apps.
It means that you can watch TV shows or play video games together simultaneously.
To join your friend’s Bigscreen session:
- Launch Bigscreen VR.
- Click onJoin Room.
- Enter the room ID of the rooms you want to visit. You’ll be able to see which rooms you’ve already visited by looking at the list above.
The app now supports up to 15 people in one room.
Watch Movies, Television, and Sports with people around the world

Green Screen Environment
Big Screen has added a new green screen feature to its app, which is useful for streaming and presenting purposes.
You can record yourself on a green screen and then edit out any unwanted backgrounds later. This is useful when creating videos for YouTube.
Bigscreen has just released an update for its Android app, which includes full remote desktop functionality.
It’s really cool because it means VR gamers will be able to use their existing headsets for playing PCVR games.
The feature will be ultra-low latency (less than 15 milliseconds) when streaming to Quest.
