If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’ve just received an important patch for version 4.0. It includes lots of new features, including graphical improvements, tweaks to improve the game’s overall experience, nods to the Netflix TV show, and even a new main story mission.
We’ll tell you exactly what you’ll be able to do when you play the next generation version of The Witcher 3.
We have covered the latest gaming news here.
Updated Graphics
With the next generation of The Witcher 3, you’ll notice increased resolution for textures on monsters, Geralt, major NPCs, some foliage, and even the sky and the seasons.
There are some changes to improve the visuals, including fixing issues with armor and hairstyles. It also includes the Nitpickers Patch which addresses various visual bugs from previous versions.
With the latest update, PC and PlayStation 5 players now have the ability to enable raytraced reflections and shadowing.
Netflix Content
Beyond just 4K texture packs, one character and an army of NPCs have alternate appearances to reflect them in the Witcher Netflix series. Both Jasker (Dandelion) and the Nilfgardian Army receive optional upgrades.
There’s a new quest line called “In The Eternal Fire’ Shadow” in Velen. You can complete it with a set of Forgotten Wolf School gear, which includes an outfit inspired by the game.
Then there’s another scavenger hunt where you can get the gear for a matching steel and gold weapon.
Cross-Saving
You don’t need to worry about losing progress if you decide to start playing again after having already played for some time. All of your previous saves will be uploaded to the online service and linked to your GOG.com account.
You’ll also receive the following items when you log into the game: A sword called the Sword of a Thousand Flowers, which is made from Steel; a set of gauntlets, pants, and shoes called the Thousand Flower Armor; a pair of vambraces, which are similar to arm guards; and a pair of shoes called the White Tiger of the Western Lands.
To get your new gear, you’ll first have to go to the Royal Palace in Visimawhere you’ll meet up with Yennifer to claim your new gear.
Quality of Life and Mod Integration
Beyond the visual upgrades, the biggest change to The Witcher 3 comes from incorporating community-created modifications like the Full Combat Rebalancing mod.
These include a lot of general quality-of-life enhancements including increased health before falling damage takes effect, added quick sign casting instead of using a wheel, instant herb looting, and lots of minor bugs fixed.
There are some new features available for the game, including one that makes the game feel more like an RPG and another that allows players to take photos from within the game.
