The Xiaomi TV Stick turns your dumb TV into an “Android TV” smart device. It was first launched last year in China, but now it’s finally available here in Malaysia.

The Xiaomi TV Stick costs RM219 in Malaysia and can be purchased from Xiaomi’s participating stores.

If you search around on eCommerce platforms, some resellers are selling imported units for less than RM200.

After launching macOS Ventura last year, Apple has been working hard to bring new features to the operating system. Finally Apple has released the newest version. Check the latest features and insights here

What Does It Come With?

Unlike traditional Android TV set-top boxes, the TV Stick 4k comes with one HDMI cable and Bluetooth remote control.

Plug it directly into the HDMI port of your television set and then connect the USB cord to a spare USB port on your TV stand. It doesn’t require an extra adapter and takes up no room on your TV stand.

GPU

The Xiaomi Stick 4k runs on a quad-core ARM Cortex A35 CPU and Mali G31 MP2 GPU.

We have covered more about the latest technologies, their updates, findings, and more here.

Storage

It comes with 2GB RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. The device runs on Android TV 11, which is newer than the original 1080p version of the Xiaomi Mi TV Sticks.

Bluetooth Remote

It features a simple design for easy navigation and it has buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Built-in Mic and Google Assistant Button

You can even use the built-in microphone and Google Assistant button to control the TV with just your words.

Streaming

With its built-in Google Cast support, you can easily stream the most popular streaming services from the Play Store including

  • Viu
  • TVBanywhere+
  • iQiyI
  • Disney+
  • Hotstar
  • HBO Go
  • Apple TV

Of course, a paid account is required for accessing these services.

Output

According to Xiaomi, its new Mi Box 4K supports 4K video playback with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. It also supports DTS HD.

Chromecast

You can use Google Cast to easily stream any content from a smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer to your TV.

Compact Design

With its compact design, you could carry this portable media player with you when you go on vacation. It lets you resume watching your TV shows at your new location by simply switching the WiFi setting. Don’t worry though; remember to remove it from your bag before checking out.

Limited Onboard Storage

One drawback is the limited onboard memory and you cannot connect an external hard drive because there isn’t a spare USB port.

If you’re looking for an affordable way to connect your TV to your computer so you can view offline content, then you may want to consider the Xiaomi Mi Box S. It costs between RM180 and RM230.
