MIUI 14’s New Photon Engine

The company claims that MIUI 14’s new Photon Engine has brought in-depth synchronization between hardware and operating systems, and a large number of system architecture changes.

The software update will be rolled out to all eligible Xiaomi smartphones in stages over the next few years. It will start rolling out to newer devices first before eventually making its way to older and less expensive models.

Faster Load Times for Applications

According to Xiaomi‘s official announcement, Photonic Engine works on the underlying Linux kernel, and all third parties will have full access to its API. This should allow them to create applications that are optimized for Xiaomi smartphones with faster load times.

Performance Boost

The new chip promises to boost performance by up to 88% and also aims to cut power usage by up to 16%.

MIUI 14 will also help boost the overall speed of the device by up to 60%, at least on the Xiaomi Mi A2. It will also allow you to disable permanent notifications, customize apps and folders, and will help enhance Bluetooth connections and pairing with peripherals.
