If you want to know how to improve your site’s ranking, it can be difficult to get an accurate answer if your question doesn’t include the correct keywords.

For example, if you were asking: “How do I customize the images that appear in Google searches?”

That question could be referring to three different things: A text result, an icon (favicon), or a small picture used for displaying links on web pages. The user might not get the answer he wants if he uses such vague terms.

Google has just released a new tool called “Search Element Identifier” which helps you easily locate the specific search elements you want to improve.

Let’s take a look at what’s in the guide.

Don’t forget to check out the latest news about technology and more on our website.

Anatomy Of A Google SERP

Google has just launched its new Visual Elements Gallery which shows the most common elements found in a typical web result page.

A Google SERP consists of the following main parts:

  • Attribution: Includes identifiers such as names of sites, URLs, and favicons.
  • Text results: Often referred to as the ‘”10 blue links”.
  • Rich content: These are text result pages with additional lines of information such as review star ratings and recipe instructions.
  • Video & image results: Photos and videos pulled from webpages indexed in search results.
  • Explore features: These are commonly referred to as “people often ask.”

Each of these illustrations shows how they might appear in search result pages. Furthermore, the guide illustrates the different types of content available for each element.

Knowledge Graph

Google says it can easily expand its Knowledge Graph by adding new elements to the knowledge base. It might do so once other search features gain popularity.

“Our new setup makes it easier for us to add new visual elements to the gallery without too much effort on our part; that is in fact our plan: as a visual element becomes popular on search result pages, we may add it to the gallery. However, we aim only to add those elements that hold some significance for site owners and SEOs.”

This is a good place to start when trying to figure out which types of search features Google Search has available. We can use this knowledge to see if we can improve our own websites’ search capabilities.

We hope this will help us standardize what some terms mean within the SEO industry. Finally, we plan on updating this document as new and improved tools become available.
