At an event today, Xiaomi launched several new products including the Mi 13 series phones and the Xiaomi Buds 4 wireless earphones.

The TWS earbuds are a toned-down variant of the Buds 4 that was launched in China earlier this month. It comes as the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Buds 3. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Xiaomi Buds 4

Design

The Xiaomi Buds 4 features an AirPods-style semi-in-ears. Xiaomi claims that its new buds’ “balanced” shape will keep them in the user’s ears even though they’re not fully inserted. They also still support noise cancellation (ANC), but without any mention of the 48 dB exclusion rating of their Pro sibling.

Water-Resistant

They don’t have silicone ears and the device is IPx54-water resistant.

Microphone

Each earbud has a microphone cutout. It comes with three built-in mics and noise-reduction technology for clearer audio during phone calls. The device is able to eliminate background noise.

Control

You can control various functions by touching the stem of the earphone.

Audio

With regards to sound quality, the Xiaomi Buds 3 has a dual magnetic dynamic driver, which includes an intelligent active noise canceling function, 360-degree spatial sound, and transparency mode.

It has Hi-Res Audio certification and LHDC 5 for CD-level sound.

Storage

The Xiaomi Buds4 comes in a pebble-shaped storage and charging case with an attractive two-toned design where the upper part is made from glass and the lower half is made from plastic.

Battery

Each earphone has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) 3.7V/4.2V 1A charger which provides up to six hours of play time and up to thirty hours of total charging time.

Connection

You can connect an audio device to two different devices at once.

The Xiaomi Buds carry a price tag of $100.

LHDC

However, they’ve released a new version of their headphones called LHDC (V), which has better audio than the previous models. They note that this codec is capable of 6X CD-like sound at 192 kHz.

HiFi Quality

The Buds 4 headphones are also equipped with 11-millimeter drivers augmented by a graphene diaphragm and a dual magnet system for potentially improved bass.
