People often ask, why is VR so expensive?

Let’s find out!

Which Is Better, Oculus or Playstation VR?

Both Oculus Rift and PSVR are good and bad in their respective ways.

Oculus Rift has a ton of great games like Skyrim and Fallout 4. It also has a bunch of other cool things like motion controllers, touch pads, and more.

The one downside to this device is that it can be really uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time.

Also, there is no easy method to adjust the lens inside the device. So if your eyes start getting tired after wearing the device for a while, then you’ll have to remove it and put it back on.

This can be annoying if you’re playing a game because you have to keep removing and replacing the device. However, if you don’t care about those inconveniences, then this could be an excellent choice for you.

PlayStation VR has a ton of great games, including Batman Arkham Knight, FarCry 5, and many others!

There are also tons of other features like motion controls, cameras, and more! One of the best things about this device is that it’s super comfortable to put on your head for extended amounts of time. And, it doesn’t take much adjustment either.

So, if you’re looking for comfort, this might be a good choice for you!

Oculus Quest vs PlayStation VR

With the recent launch of the Oculus Quest, people who want to play VR games can now choose from a wide range of options that offer them a quality experience.

There are lots of people who’ve got their virtual-reality experience through the PlayStation VR – which is Sony’s first venture into VR tech and one of the most popular headsets out there right now.

You don’t even need a high-end PC to run VR games; all you need is a PlayStation 4 computer and the PlayStation VR headset.

Compared to PSVR (which is now discontinued), Oculus Quest looks like it’s got a lot of advantages. It offers a better screen resolution than PSVR, requires no external cameras or wires, and costs less.

There are however some things that we feel are its biggest disadvantages.

Here’s an overview of some of the best gaming headsets out there. If you’re looking for something specific, check out our reviews section.

Comfortable: PlayStation VR

It has been known for some time that the PSVR headset was the most comfortable of the headsets available, but that hasn’t really improved with the release of Oculus GO.

Instead of using a slider that let you position the headsets with precision as PlayStation VR does, the Oculus Go instead wedges its self against the user’s head with a bit of force, which may cause discomfort for some people if they’re not accustomed to wearing eyeglasses.

If you aren’t bald, you may notice it pulling on your head a bit too, so be aware before putting it on.

It’s not completely uncomfortable by a stretch of the imagination, but once you’re in the groove it stays relatively comfortable for long stretches of time.

You shouldn’t be surprised by the fact that the Oculus Quest has no wire dangling down its side or on the floor to potentially trip over as the PlayStation VR does. However, it’s also pretty clear that the PlayStation VR wins out here.

Visuals: Oculus Quest

One of the main difference between PlayStation VR and Oculus Quest is whether the higher frame rate provided by PSVR or the larger resolution provided by Oculus Quest is better for gaming.

Not only are the visuals you see from far away and the objects you interact with clearer, but the overall look of each game just feels a whole heck of a bit cleaner.

There was a noticeable difference between titles like Creed II, Beat Sabre, and ReCore where Oculus Quest’s graphics were simply a whole hell of a sight better than anything else out there.

It didn’t look ugly at all. On the opposite, it had some really impressive visuals for its time period.

However, it was not without its flaws. It suffered from blurry images and jagged lines, which were things you rarely saw in the newer Oculus Quest headsets.

Games: PlayStation VR

It’s no wonder that Sony’s PlayStation VR (PSVR) has a larger library of games than Oculus Quest. Currently, there are over 300 games and experiences available for PSVR, which exceeds the number of games available for Oculus Quest.

The PlayStation VR has more exclusive games than the Oculus Go. However, the PSVR’s selection contains more diverse titles.

Some third parties have released some excellent games for PlayStation VR, including Skyrim VR, DOOM VFR, and Borderlands 2 VR.

There are lots of indie games out there that offer high-quality and sometimes unique gameplay experiences. Titles like Red Matter, Falcon Age, Ghost Giants, and The Persistence set the bar extremely high.

At present, none of these titles is available for the Oculus Quest.

As of right now, PSVR has the most impressive library of games available.

Controllers: Oculus Go

Despite having used the Oculus Rift headsets several times before, this was actually my very first experience using the Oculus Touch controllers.

And wow, we really liked them! They’re not only comfortable to hold, but the placement of buttons feels perfect for every game we played. We just really enjoy playing games with these controllers.

The PlayStation VR didn’t really raise the bar for motion controls when it comes to comfort. However, its absence of analogs makes them less than ideal for certain types of games.

When it came down to it, Sony needed to come up with a better gamepad for PSVR. The PlayStation Move was just an afterthought and didn’t work very well with the headset. The Oculus Touch controllers were designed specifically for VR, and they’re great!

Tracking: Oculus Quest

Want to learn about the best features of the Oculus Quest? Well, let’s start off with the obvious one: the ability to walk around freely inside virtual reality games without having to worry about losing track.

That alone is enough to make me excited about the upcoming release of the Oculus Quest. But then we also get to see how much fun it is to play games where you can actually turn around physically in front of you, rather than having to press buttons to do so.

And finally, we get to experience how cool it feels to shoot enemies behind us, knowing that they’re following our every movement thanks to the magic of motion-sensing technology.

Tracking has been an ongoing problem in a number of PlayStation VR titles, with players expected to position the camera perfectly so they can see the lights on both Move Controllerers and the headset itself.

However, even then, it’s rarely perfect – in a number of games, if you look down at your in-game hand, you’ll often see its stutter slightly. We didn’t encounter any of that in Oculus Go, which when coupled with the 360-degree motion made for a much more natural and enjoyable experience.

Tracking isn’t flawless in PlayStation VR, but it’s good enough for most people. However, if you want to play games without any restrictions, then the Oculus Quest is the way to go.

Price: Oculus Quest

When it comes to pricing, there’s only one major factor to take into consideration: does your current gaming system support Virtual Reality?

In January 2016 Sony revealed that they’d shipped over 90 million PS4s, meaning there’s a very high likelihood that you’re among those who’ve got a console capable of supporting VR.

If that’s the case, then buying a bundle of PlayStation VR could save you money, especially if you find yourself in a sale. A pair of PlayStation Move Controllers can also be purchased separately for around £80, giving you an extra set of hands to play with.

That brings the cost down to around £280, which is still pretty expensive, but not quite as bad as it sounds.

You can get an Oculus Quest for less than buying a PS4 and everything you’d use for PlayStation VR. So if you’re looking at getting into VR but don’t want to spend too much money, then Oculus Quest might be worth considering.

If you don’t own a PS4 already, then it would come down to whether you want to spend £100 more than you currently do. However, if you do own a PS4 already then you might consider buying the Oculus Quest instead.
