Let’s find out!

What Is Batman Arkham VR?

Batman: Arkham VR is a virtual reality (VR) game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, and Samsung Gear VR.

Batman: Arkham VR

Batman: Arkham VR was released in October 2016 for PS4 and PC. It is an action-adventure video game set in Gotham City.

Gameplay

Batman: Arkham VR lets players play as Batman as he investigates Gotham’s criminal underworld in order to stop the Joker before he wreaks havoc.

Unlike previous Arkham games which focused on fighting enemies, Arkham VR focuses on solving puzzles to uncover clues that will advance the story.

Arkham VR features optional activities, which include 30 challenges from the supervillain Riddler, who provides additional puzzle-solving and hidden item hunting, target shooting with the Batarang (which was previously available in Batman: Arkham Origins), and viewing character profiles and models on the Batcave’s computers.

You can also use tools such as the grapple hook, which lets you swing across gaps and climbs up buildings, and the detective vision, which lets you see through objects and scan people for info.

Batman: Arkham VR allows players to use motion controllers to interact with the game world.

SynopsisCharacters

Arkham VR includes an ensemble of comic book heroes including Batman (Kevin Conroy), who is a superhero trained to the peak level of human physical and mental excellence.

He has support from his allies, including Alfred Pennyworth, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, James Gordon Jr./Commissioner Gordon, Lucius Fox, and Robin.

Plot

Bruce Wayne wakes up from a dream about the night of his parent’s murders. He is told by his butler Alfred about an emergency that needs his immediate assistance.

After activating a secret entrance to the bat cave beneath his manor, Bruce Wayne put on his Batsuit, and gadgets to become Batman, Alfred informed him both Robin and Nightwing had disappeared, and he was unable to contact them.

Batman finds Grayson dead in an alley. He heads back to his headquarters in the Batcave.

He found out that there was an unknown assailant who easily overcame his first Robin, breaking her jaws, arms, and ribs. She was severely wounded and eventually had her head fatally snapped off.

The investigation revealed one of Penguin’s henchesman had witnessed the murder and ran away in fear.

Batman travels in the batwing to confront the penguin at his iceberg nightclub.

It turns out that the henchman was blown up by an explosive device planted by the same person who blew up the Iceberg Lounge.

Batman investigates the Gotham morgues to determine who was behind the bombings. He finds evidence that points to a demolition company working on a sewer construction site under Founders Island.

Focusing his search in this area allows Batman to communicate with Robin. Tim warns him that he is being held captive by the Joker to lure Batman into a deadly ambush.

While Batman is moving through the sewers, the dead Joker makes an intercom announcement for him. He finds his sidekick in a cage, but when trying to free him, he too gets caught.

Robin notices Joker-style writing on the wall and assumes his captor is imitating the Joker.

Batman and Robin escape from their electric cages but are then brutally attacked by Killer Croc. After they get out of their cages, Robin gets caught up in them again and is viciously killed by Croc.

A prisoner’s cell suddenly turns into an elevator going down into the basement of Arkham Asylum. Batman enters several cells before the last one shows a caged Joker.

Batman has been locked up for some time now, and he’s beginning to show signs of insanity. He writes “Killer” and “Ha” on the wall.

It was finally revealed that Batman himself killed Nightwing, blew up a witness, and lured Robin down into the sewer. Joker had temporarily taken over Batman’s mind and body by means of a transfusion of his tainted red cells.

Battered and bruised from their fight, Batman and Robin look into their respective mirrors to discover they’re both there.

Joker then declares them to be partners for life before laughing maniacally and turning off the light.

Throughout the game, various hints point towards the fact that these scenes are just nightmares, likely due to the Joker’s tainted blood in Batman’s system.

You hear the sound of an alarm clock on multiple occasions, as well as a music channel broadcasting a lullaby, a decoded message telling you to wake up Bruce, and Alfred trying to wake him up.

It’s further confirmed by the fact that the entire story takes place before the actual event, where both Nightwing (Robin) and Batman are alive and the Joker has just been released from Arkham Asylum.

Development

At E3 2016, Rocksteady revealed that they were working on Batman: Arkham VR for PSVR, which was released in November 2016.

Batman’s legendary gadgets help him solve mysteries involving his closest friends.

After a five-month exclusive window, Warner Bros. Interactive released Batman Arkham Knight on other platforms including Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Rocksteady has announced that development on Batman Arkham Knight is finished.
