Some people wrongfully believe that the PS VR library doesn’t have a whole lot to offer.

While that might’ve been the case when the PS VR Headset was first released, that was back in 2016.

Over the years, the library has become populated with some all-time VR classics as well as some engaging exclusives.

Quick Summary

This post will provide some of our top picks for the best PS VR games you can snag for yourself from the Playstation VR Store right now.

We tried to include as many different genres and play types as possible so there’s a little something for everyone.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

Top Playstation VR Games

Beat Saber

If you’re someone that’s been interested in VR at all, you must have heard of Beat Saber.

If not, let us give you a rundown: Beat Saber is a rhythm game where you get two lightsabers to slash through color-coordinated boxes. You slash through the red boxes with your red lightsaber and the blue boxes with your blue lightsaber.

The rhythm with which you must slice these boxes is determined by the song that’s playing in the background. You have a huge library of songs to choose from, and it has an extremely dedicated community as well.

That means that they’re constantly creating new levels with new songs. Thus, you’ll never run out of songs to try out.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil has long been one of the best horror franchises in gaming. When Resident Evil 7 first came out, it wowed audiences with its new first-person approach and a much-awaited return to the survival horror style that made the franchise what it is.

The VR version of the game is just as, if not more, scary than the regular game. It’s highly recommended that you play the VR version with the best possible headphones that you have since the sound design is also something to behold.

Each step paralyzes you with fear.

As you hear distant rats scurrying in the background as well as assailants stalking you at every turn, Resident Evil 7 fills you with anxiety and paranoia like no other game.

The boss sequences are also particularly well-ported for the VR experience and don’t feel janky at all. They’re extremely fun and provide a unique challenge when you’re playing them in VR as you really need to bob and weave to avoid the swings from enemies coming at you.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

Skyrim is widely considered to be one of the most deep and immersive RPGs out there. With VR, you can truly get lost in the world of Skyrim as you set out to explore the different quests it has to offer you.

If you’ve never played Skyrim before, this is a great way to first try it out. If you have played it before, it still offers a fairly unique and new experience to warrant a replay.

We were particularly worried when the VR version of Skyrim was announced because we felt the combat wouldn’t really translate well into a VR game. However, the VR port does a great job of smoothing it out so that it does not feel clunky or unfair.

You have a wide variety of quests to choose from.

The game does not hold your hand, and you’re fairly free to explore whatever part of Skyrim you wish to wander off to. Over the course of your journeys, you may find random strangers at crossroads that may ask for help.

This can lead you down certain side missions with particularly rewarding results.

It’s an extremely deep world with lots to explore and lots to learn.

Would you like to join the Dark Brotherhood? Or would you like to join a covenant of vampires? Would you like to go off to college and train to become a mage?

All of this and more can be done within Skyrim, and it’s really wonderful to see just how many options you have.

Furthermore, fighting dragons in VR is something that is just a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners

Have you ever wanted a VR game with zombies that has a well-defined melee and combat system that doesn’t feel janky and unplayable? Then, this is definitely the game for you.

For a long time, people have been wanting to implement effective combat systems but haven’t been able to do so just due to the sheer complexity of it. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners provides an experience that is extremely refined and feels fresh.

The combat system isn’t the only thing on offer here.

Along with the well-fleshed-out combat system, you also have a variety of factions and NPC interactions within the game that give the game a unique level of depth. The decisions you make and how you choose to interact with NPCs determine how your levels will go.

Hence, each level can be extremely unpredictable, and a lot of times, you’re forced to improvise and adapt to overcome the odds. Oftentimes, it may feel extremely difficult, but it never feels unfair or frustrating.

Thus, when you finally triumph and overcome the zombie horde, it can be a truly satisfying experience.

Until You Fall

Until You Fall is a super stylish and fast-paced game that is quite physically intensive. Hence, if you’re the sort of person that doesn’t like to move around too much while playing VR, then this might not be for you.

For everyone else who likes getting an intense workout as they experience a uniquely designed rogue-like, this is the perfect game to get.

The controls are incredibly responsive and rarely ever feel janky or unfair. Not once did we feel that our character wasn’t doing what we were trying to make it do. Everything was extremely smooth and responsive.

The combat system also allows you to perform extremely stylish moves if you can pull off the physical movement necessary to execute them. This makes for a super fun challenge where you push yourself to perform all these incredibly stylish and satisfying moves.

Dreams

Dreams is a creator platform on the PS4 that provides you with all the tools you’d ever need to create a game for yourself.

As you may probably imagine, this platform has a VR component as well. This allows you to create unique and deep VR experiences and share them with others on the platform.

Hence, it’s a great option if you’re someone that wants to get into VR development but have never tried it before.

Even if you don’t want to get into VR development, the platform has a huge library of VR experiences available for you to try out. These have been created by members of the platform and you can find some incredibly polished and unique experiences to try out in virtual reality.

Conclusion

Remember that these great picks are just starting points for you.

As you play them, you’ll start to figure out what types of VR games you enjoy and eventually, you’ll become much better at picking what you like.
