Ubisoft’s gradual return to Steam is set to continue with the company’s fun 2020 adventure game Immortals Fenyx Rising now officially announced for Valve’s platform.

Revenue Cut

Launched at the beginning of 2021, Fenyx Rising followed the same pattern of all new Ubisoft PC games released after 2019, skipping Steam in favor of a dual launch on Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store – where Epic was, perhaps unsurprisingly, wooling game devs and publisher with a 12% revenue share compared to Valve’s 30%.

Preferred Storefronts

However, it appears Ubisoft’s position on their preferred storefronts has been shifting since November when listings for a Steam version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla were found, and the change was officially revealed by the publisher themselves in December, when Valhalla (Anno 1800), and Roller Champions were all revealed to be headed to Valve’s service.

Line-Up

That lineup has now expanded by one after a game called Immortals Fenyx Rise was listed on Steam earlier this week. However, there’s no official word yet on when the game might be released.

Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed whether its new distribution policy will apply to all future titles or if Steam release dates will be chosen individually.

Immortals Fenyx Rising

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a decent bit of game, taking Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’s free-form, open-ended gameplay and infusing it with a touch of goofy Greek mythological humor.

There are so many mini maps that exploring doesn’t feel as important as solving the puzzle.

“I feel for Immortals a bit,”

Eurogamer’s Christian Donlan

“It’s a skillful, lovingly made product, but it is unmistakably a product, and the best games in this genre all feel like genuine adventures.”

Ubisoft Catalog

There are plenty of Ubisoft games still available for purchase through the Epic Game Store and Ubisoft Connect.

  • Watch_Dogs Legion
  • The Division 2
  • Far Cry 6, and more.

Perhaps for those of us who want to keep everything in one place, the sudden appearance of Immortals on Steam could mean that Ubisoft might list their back catalog faster.
