Sony is known for releasing a new and more advanced version of its console after around 3 years of the initial model. For example, the PlayStation 5 recently replaced the PlayStation 4.

Sony first unveiled the PlayStation 4 in November 2013, making it their highest-end console for three years. In 2016, they released a Pro version of the console referred to as the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Playstation 5 Pro

The Sony PlayStation 4 was released on November 15, 2013. Its successor, the PlayStation 4 Pro, came out on November 10, 2016. The highest and most recent edition of the console, the PlayStation 5, launched on November 12, 2020.

Fans of the PlayStation have been asking questions about if the PS5 will have its pro model when 2023 hits since it will mark the third anniversary of the console. This is due to the trend that’s been noticed.

SVP Nishimo’s Statement about the Playstation 5 Pro

In his speech about the future of PlayStation, Nishino said,

“By the end of fiscal 2022, cumulative sales will exceed 37 million units. And we believe it will also be a very important time for the platform. I hope you will look forward to next year (2023).”

As widely anticipated, Nishino declined to say definitively that there’ll be a PlayStation 5 Pro released in 2022. His response was meant to suggest that the gaming Platform will receive an upgrade in 2023, and as we know, the only upgrade worth considering is the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Detachable Disc Drive

Sources that have confirmed the production and testing of the PlayStation 5 Pro have suggested that the new device may only be released in digital form.

The interesting part is that the new console will have a detachable disc drive that can be connected to the console via a USB-C cable.

Criticism

Users can either purchase the console without a disc drive or acquire it through other means. This decision has generated lots of criticism on social media.

Despite this, many can still make sense of it especially when considering that the images of the PlayStation 5 we are seeing appear to be scaled down rather than its full size.
