The Logitech G705 Wireless Gaming Mouse is an unconventional idea, and that alone makes it worth checking out. Rather than yet another peripheral for the traditional PC gaming crowd, the G705’s target audience skews younger and female.

As such, the mouse is compact and stylish, and not quite like any other gaming mouse we’ve reviewed before.

Logitech G705

The Logitech G705 belongs to the Aurora Collection, a family of Logitech gear that is made for women, who tend to have smaller hands than men.

The Aurora Collection includes the G705 mouse, the G715 Wireless Gaming Keyboard and the G735 Wireless Gaming Headset. The philosophy behind the lineup is to make PC gaming gear for women.

Design Philosophy

According to Tiffany Beers, Head of Gaming Innovation at Logitech G,

“Our endeavor, to craft a gender-inclusive collection of gaming gear, challenged us to set aside old ideas—and really ask ourselves some essential questions about our own love of play.”

“In setting out to design principally for women gamers, we achieved not only that but created a collection we hope is meaningful for an even larger segment of gamers beyond gender and stereotypes.”

Design and Functionality

The G705 is an understated and elegant peripheral, with an ergonomic white chassis and a tasteful LED strip in the palm rest.

Color

By default, the lighting glows blue and pink, but you can change that if you prefer other colors.

Buttons

At 4.2 x 2.7 x 1.6 inches, the mouse is compact and may be suitable for people with small hands. It also has six programmable buttons.

Logitech G Hub Software

The G705 runs on the Logitech G Hub gaming software, which allows users to reprogram buttons, set up RGB lighting patterns, and link profiles with individual games and apps. The software is intuitive and works well. The preprogrammed pink-and-blue pattern for the LED lighting is striking and unique.

Wireless Connectivity

The G705 offers two types of wireless connectivity

  • 2.4 GHz USB dongle
  • Bluetooth

Both methods are easy to connect and work flawlessly, although the USB mode has a faster response rate, and is thus better suited to gaming.

Battery Life

The battery life of the G705 is around 40 hours with RGB lighting active. While this is not bad, some of Logitech’s other rechargeable mice offer more than twice that amount of battery life. The G705’s battery life may be unavoidable because of its small chassis, but it’s still a minor inconvenience.

In-Game Performance

The Logitech G705 excels in in-game performance. It was tested with various PC titles, including

  • Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition
  • High On Life
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Lost Ark

The mouse performed well across the board, with a high-quality sensor that tracked movements accurately and satisfying responsive clicks.

Size

The G705 size may be a problem for some people with larger hands. It was found that the device could be difficult to grip and the target may be overshot while trying to scroll. It is suggested to hold the G705 before buying one.

Conclusion

The Logitech G705 is a unique gaming mouse designed with a female audience in mind. It boasts an eye-catching RGB pattern and performs well with helpful features. With women making up at least 40% of the PC gaming population, the G705 is a timely device.

However, at $100, it may be a tough sell compared to some cheaper alternatives. It is worth considering, especially if you’re interested in other items from the Aurora Collection. A full set of peripherals can be an expensive investment but potentially worthwhile.
