Latest Apple TV and Fire TV Cube – Comparison

When it comes to high-end streaming devices, Apple TV and Amazon’s Fire TV Cube are number one.

Which device should you choose? Read the article below to see which device offers better features and performance.

Apple TV, and Fire TV Cube.

The new Apple TV 4K is the first of these to be released in a while, but it’s not the only one that has been announced.

The company also revealed its plans for its next generation of set-top boxes: the Apple TV 4K, Apple TV (4th Generation), and Apple TV (3rd Generation).

These three devices will all run on iOS 10, so they share some similarities. But there are differences between them as well.

Let’s take a look at what each of these devices can do, and how they compare with their competitors.

Price

They both cost hundreds of dollars.

Features

Both devices recently received an update with a mixture of new features and upgraded components.

We tested them both and found that they accomplished the same thing, but did so in very different ways.

If you want to buy an Apple TV 4K, you should definitely consider buying the Wi-Fi plus Ethernet version because it costs less than the base version.

Smart Homes Technology

It also supports the upcoming smart homes standard called Matter, which uses Thread technology. Products from various manufacturers will now be able to communicate with each other faster than ever before.

Size

The new Apple TV 4K has a smaller size because there isn’t longer a fan. It uses USB-C for charging instead of the old Lightning connector, which is being phased out.

Performance

Our tests showed that apps opened a few seconds quicker than the previous version of Apple TV 4K, which was already pretty fast. And the interface is simple and clean.

Design

The third-generation Fire TV Cube is designed to be the center of the living room. It has integrated infrared (IR) blaster technology that lets you control a wide range of devices, including

  • Televisions,
  • Soundbars
  • Even some set-top boxes.

More Features

With the help of an HDMI splitter, you can connect your cable box or game system to the HDMI input on the rear of the Cube and watch both at once.

This way, you don’t have to change channels when switching between viewing a cable TV program and streaming content from Netflix.

We were completely blown away by how easy it was to use voice controls for everything from listening to music to checking the forecast to switching between channels on our cable service.

However, the Cube comes with an included universal remote packed with all of the controls you might want to use. It has even got channel up and down buttons.

On the back of the Cube, there’ll be a full-size USB connector. This is better than the previous version, which had a micro USB connector that was harder to connect with popular devices.

Now you can plug in a camera and zoom from your TV in just a matter of seconds. We haven’t tested this yet, but we plan to do so soon.

One of our biggest complaints with the Amazon Fire TV cube is that the software is clogged up with ads. It cost $139 dollars but we’d wait for a discount because Amazon’s own electronic products usually get discounts several times throughout the year.
