Oculus includes some options, but they aren’t quite as flexible as you’d expect. By default, there’re three main ways to stream content from Oculus Quest.
- You can use the Oculus app to access your VR headset from your smartphone.

Make Sure Your Quest Is Ready
To stream using the second method, you must ensure that your Quest is in developer (or test) mode.
Before proceeding, check that your Chromecast is working correctly.
Make sure all three of your devices — your phone, Chromecast, and the Quest — are connected to the same Wi‑Fi router. Also, be sure to reboot them all before starting.
Plug Everything In
Here’s where things get a bit confusing. You basically want to connect the HDMI output from your Chromecast Ultra (Gen 3 or whatever you’re using) to the input port on your capture card, then connect the audio out of the capture card to the headphone jack on your computer. For the El Gato HD 60S, that’s a USB cable.
Cast The Quest
- To start casting from the Oculus Go, open the Oculus mobile application, then go to Settings > Devices > Cast.
- Choose “Cast to TV” and choose the name of your Chromecast device in the dropdown menu.
- Finally, choose “Normal” as the video quality.
If it gives you any error messages, check all the WiFi networks and reboot all three devices (the Quest, the phone, and the laptop) and maybe even put the device into developer mode before switching it back off again.
To use the website cast portal, just crop the browser window as a “Window Capture” source in OBS.
Sync Video and Audio
If you’re using an external camera, you may notice that the Chromecast video is slightly delayed compared to the actual video you’re seeing inside your headset.
That’s fine. The problem is that your video feed is slightly ahead of what the viewer is seeing happen in the game. To fix this, it’s very easy.
- OBS has an options menu item named Filters where you can adjust settings related to video recording devices. Right-click on a video source and select Filter to access these settings.
- Select the plus icon and then choose “Render delay” from the drop-down menu.
Setup Audio (Optional)
You don’t need to be concerned if you plan on streaming through OBS without recording anything or replying to any comments.
However, if you’re going to be able to speak to your viewers, you’ll need to take it one step further by using a wireless mic.
Arrange Everything In OBS
Basically, you just want to arrange your OBS window.
Make sure you have everything set up properly so that the Quest audio is going into OBS and your mic is going into OBS.
If you’re talking to someone on Discord while playing or chatting, make sure that the voice chat goes into OBS as well (if you use Discord).

Put Your Quest In Developer Mode
You first need to turn on developer mode before using this method.
You can do this by pairing the device to the mobile application.
- Then go to Settings
- Click on the Quest
- Open Advanced Settings, and turn on Developer Mode.
That’s it. If you haven’t already registered your Oculus account as a developer account, you might want to do so now.
Plug It In
You now need to connect the USB-C cable from your Quest to your computer.
You must do this before streaming the Quest wirelessly each time you want to use it.
Activate/Setup Vysor
- If you open up Vysor and see a QR code, then it means that your Quest is already set up for use with Vysor.
- Click View now.
- You can adjust settings like the resolution, frame rate, and more from here. The output window will show two separate fisheye views of both eyes.
- Once you’ve done that, you just need to plug the Quest back into the router and wait for it to reboot again. Then you’re ready to start using Vysor!
- If you’re not using Vysor, then you could use the built-in Scrcpy function within SideQuest to copy files wirelessly from one device to another.
- Make sure you connect your Quest wirelessly before launching SideQuest, turn on the screen-sharing feature, and then turn on the wireless connection.
Sync Video and Audio
If you’re using an external camera, you may notice that the video from the Vysor app is slightly delayed compared to the real-time video you see inside your VR goggles. That’s normal.
The problem is that your video footage is going to be slightly ahead of what the viewers see happen in the games. To fix this, it’s quite easy.
To start recording video from your computer screen, first, open OBS Studio by clicking on its icon in the system tray (the small square box at the bottom left corner).
Then, right-clicking on the camera device in the main window, choose “Filters” and then “Render Delay.”
Arrange Everything In OBS
Make sure you have everything set up properly so that the Quest’s sound card and your microphone are both feeding into OBS.
If you’re chatting with someone on Discord while playing or when they’re watching you play, make sure that chat audio goes into OBS as well so that everyone can hear you.
