How To Play Skyrim VR On Oculus Quest 2

You can use either one of two methods to play Skyrim VR on the Oculus Quest.

  • The first method is wirelessly connected, via an Oculus Link cable.
  • The second method is a bit harder than the first one, but it gives you a little more freedom if you want to use it.

You must ensure that your computer has enough RAM and processing power to run VR applications smoothly.

If you’re planning to buy a VR headset, we recommend at least an Intel i5-4590 processor, AMD Ryzen 5 1500x CPU, 8 GB RAM, and Windows 10.

Method 1 – Oculus Link

To use the Oculus Link for playing Skyrim VR on your Quest, simply follow these steps.

  • Buy Skyrim VR on Steam. Download Skyrim VR.
  • Next, connect your link cable to your PC. To do this:
    • Open the Oculus app for your computer.
    • Turn on your Quest 2 or Quest.
    • Plug your USB 3.0 cable into a USB 3 port on your computer, then plug the other side into your headset.
    • You’re prompted to allow or deny an app permission request. Select Deny if you accidentally select Allow. Unplug your USB cable from your Quest headset and then plug it back in.
    • If asked to enable Oculus Link, choose Enable to start remote rendering through Oculus Link.
  • After you’ve connected your computer to your TV using an HDMI cable, launch SteamVR from within Steam. You can do this either on your PC or through the app on your headset (if you’re using one).
  • To play Skyrim VR, go to SteamVR and click on it to start playing.

Method 2 – Wireless Skyrim VR

If you want to be able to experience VR without having to connect to a PC via a link cable, there are two options: you can either download the Virtual Desktop onto a Quest 2, or you could go for Oculus Air Link.

If you want to use an Oculus Rift headset, both your headset and computer must be running v28 of the Oculus Home application. You can check which one you’re using by going into Settings. Then say these words:

  • Press the Oculus button to open up the universal menus for Quest 2.
  • Go to Settings > Experimental Features.
  • Click on the button next to “Air Link.”
  • Click here to read the Air Link requirements, and then click continue.
  • To pair your computer, first, locate it in the available computers list, then click Pair.
  • After pairing, you can now launch the app.

To use Virtual Desktop

  • Install the Virtual desktops app.
  • Open the app, and then open SteamVR.
  • If you want to play Skyrim VR, go to your Steam library and look for Skyrim VR.
  • Launch Skyrim VR by clicking on the Skyrim VR game.
