How to Play Music in VR Chat?

If you want to play only audio files that you’ve already created, the best way to do so is to download an app called Soundpad. With Soundpad, you can select specific audio files to play, and then you can set up hotkeys and favorites to speed things up.

Soundpad allows you to choose specific files to play, and you can even create hotkeys and favorites to get that sound effect you want quickly.

Step-By-Step Process

VoiceMeeter Banana allows you to pretend to be a real mic, so you can feed it audio from any source (like a smartphone), and then it can record that audio and send it to other apps (such as VRChat). You can also use it as a voice recorder for yourself.

Installs a microphone/speaker software program on your computer to do that.

  1. You first have to download and then install an app.
  2. Run the program and then click Install. Then, you need to restart your computer so that everything works properly.
  3. If you’re having trouble hearing people when you start up again after rebooting, you can fix that by using Audio Router to force apps to use your regular speaker instead of headphones.
  4. Open the Start menu and type sound into the search box. You can now view all of the different audio devices available on your computer. Make sure your default speaker/mic is selected.
  5. Click the “Recordings” tab and find the “Cable Output” recording. Right-click it and choose “Properties.”
  6. Select “Listen to this speaker” from the “Speaker Settings” menu. You will now be able to listen to the audio you play.
  7. You need a program that can record sound directly from a microphone before you can play back any recorded sounds.
    • You can install an extension called Audio Pick on Chrome to record audio from a specific web page.
    • If you’re using Firefox for local file downloads or if you’re listening to YouTube videos, you can use vlc instead. More info is below.
  8. To get started in VRChat, simply turn on your microphone and select “Cable Output” from the dropdown menu.

Using VLC to play local files and YouTube.

  1. To start using this app, first, download VLC. You might want to download the latest stable release if you’re planning to watch videos from YouTube.
  2. Open VLC, go to Preferences (CTRL+P), then select Audio from the left menu bar, and under Output, choose Wave Out. Then, under Devices, choose Voice Meeter Input (VB-audio vir ($1, $64)).
  3. When playing any audio file in VLC, it automatically plays it through the microphone.
  4. To watch YouTube videos, open the Media menu and select Open Network Stream. Then paste a YouTube video link.
    • If this doesn’t seem to be working, try some more video files. Some video files might only play on older versions of VLC.
    • If it still doesn’t work, check whether your anti-virus software or firewall is blocking VLC.

To disable your anti-virus program, go into Windows and type “allow an app through windows firewall” into the Start menu.

Make sure it is enabled, and if you cannot locate it in the list, look for the.exe file in your Program folder and then click “OK”.

How to Play Music in VRChat Through Mic?

You can’t use any other voice chat software than VoiceMeeter Banana for playing music in VRChat. However, if you’re already a VRChat user, you may be interested in trying out some of the custom sounds available.

They achieve this by doing these things…

  1. Using your physical mic to record the audio.
  2. Adding audio to avatars.
  3. You can feed audio directly from your computer into VRChat.

The problem is that if you try to use a real physical mic to capture sound in VRChat, everything you say will be heard by everyone else in the room.

4 Ways to Play Music in VRChat

You’ll learn how to play only the audio files that come from your computer without also hearing the sound effects from VRChat.

1. Play the Audio From Your Phone

If you do not wish to utilize third-party software, connect an auxiliary cord from your mobile device to the microphone input on your PC. Then, simply plug your mobile device into the USB port on your PC and start playing audio through your mobile device. You can also use a headset if you’d rather.

2. Use a Virtual Audio Cable

Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) is an excellent tool for recording sound from within applications. It allows internal sounds on the computer to be recorded as they came from a microphone.

You can use the virtual audio cable to connect your computer speakers to your headset’s microphone so you can hear yourself talk through the headset.

3. Use Clownfish Voice Changer

Clownfish is an app designed to change your voice. It has a text-to-speech (TTS) and soundboard. Clownfish lets you select audio clips and play them through the microphone. To make it work, you must set Clownfish as your default audio input in Windows.

4. Use VB-Audio VoiceMeeter

Voicemeeter allows you to mix and manage any number of audio sources from or to an unlimited number of audio destinations.

If you want to use your microphone for voice chat, set your computer’s sound card to be your headset (the one connected to your speakers) and then turn off your computer’s built-in microphone. Then when you start up VRC, select “Voice Meet” from the menu and choose your headset as your microphone.

How to Stream Spotify Through Your Mic: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Add Your Music

If you want to add songs you’ve downloaded from iTunes to Spotify, follow these steps.

To access the settings for your Spotify account, go to the Spotify app on your phone and select “Account” from the dropdown list. Then select “Settings.”

Scroll down until you locate the Local Files section.

To show local files, swipe to the right on the file icon.

You can select different locations where you store your files by choosing them from the available sources. Once you’ve clicked the “Add a source”, you’ll be able to choose the folder where you’d like to save the downloaded song.

By default, Spotify should automatically download the song to the same folder as your library. However, if you’re keeping your files elsewhere, you’ll need to pick the folder where the song is located after you’ve added a source.

Step 2: Know Your Software

There are several applications out there that let you play audio through the microphone. These apps add extra effects and more fun to your songs. They also enable you to create sounds, and therefore, you need to pick the best one that is currently available for use.

We’ve listed some of the best apps for creating audio effects below. You don’t need to spend any money to create these effects.

  • Virtual Audio Cable and Soundboard
  • MorphV
  • VoiceMeeter and Soundbar
  • Soundpad
  • Rust Soundboard

This guide shows you how to stream Spotify using VoiceMeeter. Voice Meeter is a piece of free software that lets you create an audio output from any input source.

Many people who upload video content to YouTube also utilize this software. It is the best and most useful tool that enables you to combine the input you provide. Additionally, it functions as a digital mixer and has a soundboard and an output cable.

We’re not going to mix anything; instead, we’re just going to use some of the device’s features in a different way for playing audio. In this case, it serves the purpose of a virtual microphone.

Step 3: Open the Apps

To start setting up, the first thing you need to do is open the following file:

  • Spotify
  • VoiceMeeter
  • App volume and device options

A pro tip: If you want to play games using the microphone, change the default sound settings for the microphone so that they match the audio output from your computer speakers.

To test it out, go to Control Panel & Hardware & Sounds & Manage Audio Devices.

Set the Stereo Mix option to be the primary setting for the microphone.

Step 4: Set the output of Spotify to VoiceMeeter’s input.

To set Spotify’s output to the voice meeter’s input, go into the App Settings > Sound Options > App volumes and devices > Spotify > Output > VoiceMeeter’s Input.

First, fix it, then continue.

Step 5: Choose Primary Speakers

To use VoiceMeeter, first select your primary speakers from the A1 tab. Then, leave the VoiceMeeter output set to “A2” so that it works as a virtual microphone.

You will be able to use the music that is playing through Spotify by connecting it to VoiceMeeter Output 1 (A1) because as you might remember from step 3, we selected VoiceMeeter Input to act as Spotify’s output.

If you want to mute the sound generated by VoiceMeeter, click on the green >>A button in the Voice Meeter input section.

Once VoiceMeeter has been activated, the sound will continue to be transmitted through the virtual microphone until you turn off the device.

Step 6: Add the Microphone

You need to select your microphone by first selecting “1st Hardware Input” and then playing some audio through the microphone at the same time. This is because you want to be able to do both at the same time.

If you want to use both the speakerphone and play music at the same time, you need to connect the phone to the computer using an audio cable.

  1. Clicking on the circled A and B buttons below the first hardware input will mute the audio.
  2. If you mute >A on the microphone, you won’t be able to listen to what you’re saying through the microphone.
  3. If you disable >B, others won’t be able to hear what you’re saying.

If simply looking at the letters onscreen isn’t enough for you to figure out what they mean, then experiment with different things and see which ones help.

Step 7: Make Sure Spotify Is Utilizing VoiceMeeter Output

It’s important to understand this step because if you don’t, then you might begin to question whether or not there was anything wrong with the steps that came before it.

If you want to play music from Spotify through your computer, you need to know if the software you’re using is using VoiceMeeter Output as an audio input source. A mic will usually serve as a computer’s audio input source. For example, you could use the VoiceMeeter output software instead of a real mic.

There are many different methods for achieving this. We’ll show three methods for making sure that the application in which we’re interested uses the virtual mic we’ve just created instead.

  1. Set your VoiceMeeter output as your default device and communication device. It’s the easiest way but also the least reliable.
  2. You must set the VoiceMeeter output as the default audio device for any application that uses this method. But, it isn’t reliable because some programs cannot tell the difference between a real mic and a virtual mic.
  3. You can use Voice Meeter output as the primary audio source by simply editing the application’s preferences. However, this approach may be unsuccessful if some applications don’t offer this setting.
  4. Go to Settings > System > App Volume and Device Preference > Voice Recorder > Output tab and select Voice Meeter Output instead of the default output.
  5. If you want to test whether the voice recognition works correctly, you can play back the recorded audio from the virtual mic. It works for any additional applications that use the VoiceMeeter Output Device as an input device.

Final Words

You can use your computer’s built-in microphone to listen to your favorite song when talking to friends or playing games.

Some of these apps cost money, but there are also free versions of them. However, even if we recommend using the most popular ones, don’t be afraid to try out new ones too.
