What is Virtual Reality?

First, we need to understand what Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is and why people play it. To fully appreciate this game, you must use a VR headset.

It’s basically a wearable computer that you wear on your head and over each eye. The headset has a small display that allows you to see things just like if you were wearing regular eyeglasses.

If you turn your body, you see the area surrounding you just as if you were really there. Imagine playing Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO) and instantly changing direction to shoot someone behind you. You could definitely enjoy yourself a whole bunch more.

The Best CSGO VR Alternative

Since Valve didn’t develop CS:GO as a video gaming experience meant to be played in VR, we have no choice but to wait until someone makes one. However, there are some great first person shooter (FPS) games that were specifically designed to be played in VR.

Some of them are only playable through VR headsets and not on any other platforms. Read on to learn some great games like Counter Strike Global Offensive (CSGO). They’re made using the Source 2 engine, which allows for a better VR and three dimensional game play.

On first sight, Pavlov doesn’t appear to be much. However, it has an impressive model of VR steering that allows for realistic movements needed to perform even the most basic actions, such as grabbing a knife or reloading guns.

On one side, this can lead to awkward situations like not being able too handle your weapon properly or drop it, but on the other side, it can be very immersive and eventually lead to tricks like sneaking into someone’s house and taking their weapon away.

One of the biggest advantages of Counter Strike Global Offensive is its huge modding scene. It was one of the first games to allow mods, so there are tons of them available for download.

Also, the choice for weapons is obviously influenced by those used in Counter-Strike video game series, with a slight modification when it came to heavy weapons. Mechanics, like throwing smoke bombs and holding angles, are quite portable.

Half-Life: Alyx

This game is an amazing alternative to Counter-Stike Global Offensive (CSGO) which is also available for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. It was released in 2019 and was created by Valve Corporation. The story takes place after the end of Half-Life 2.

Half-Life: Episode Three brings you into the world of Alyx Vance. She is on a quest to locate and capture an ancient weapon called the Gravity Gun.

Half-Life: Alyx was specially designed for VR, so it’s one of the best FPS games that you can get that will be anything even vaguely similar to a CS:GO VR mode experience.

Is Hal-Life: Alyx Free?

Given that Half-life: Alyx is still an early release, we doubt that it’ll ever be free on steam. Right now, you can buy it for about 70 bucks. However, if you’re willing to wait for a sale, you could save yourself quite a bit of money. You should check out steam sales often because they can really help you save a ton of cash.

Pavlov

Another really cool version for a VR gaming experience is called Pavlov VR. This is an old title from 2017, but it’s one of the few games that focus on making it VR-compatible.

It’s still playable today and it’s even better than before, thanks to the helpful improvements it receives every time.

As we mentioned earlier, it isn’t exactly a new first-person shooter game, but as time goes by, the updates keep improving its looks and feel, making it one of the most popular games on Steam today.

It’s hard not to be impressed by the sheer number of weapons and battle features introduced in this game. Unlike Half-Life 3 by Valve, Pavlov was built using Unreal 4 instead of the Source2.

Above all else, PVEVR may be the best and most close thing to experiencing CSGO right now. It’s definitely already become the first option for many players.

Is Pavlov Free?

The answer to this question may be yes or no. Currently, the PC VR version of Pavelok is available for $25 on the Steam web site.

You can download Pavlov for free from the Oculus Store, which makes it possible to play it on the Oculus Rift. It’s completely free to get and has lots of cool features.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are several options for playing CSGO in VR. However, they come with their own pros and cons. Some of them are much better than others.
