If you play Skyrim in VR you might be wondering how to make Skyrim VR look better.

In this article, we will tell you how to do so. Let’s find out!

How to Make Skyrim VR Look Better?

Skyrim VR is a great game and it has been released for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Google Daydream and Samsung GearVR. It is one of the best games that are available on all these platforms.

However, if you want to enjoy the full potential of the game, then you need to use the right settings. In order to achieve this, you can follow some simple steps.

  1. Adjust Your Settings
  2. Use the Right Headset
  3. Play With the Camera
  4. Turn Off Motion Blur
  5. Lower the Screen Brightness

Skyrim VR Mods

Skyrim VR is the kind of video games that will continue to be updated for years and years to go. The original Skyrim first came out nearly ten years ago and it’s been getting new mods ever since then on PC, PS3, PS4, and XBox One. Unfortunately, Skyrim Vr only has mods for the pc edition — not PSvr.

If you want to play Skyrim VR on PC, then you need to be aware that almost all of the Skyrim Special Editions (SSE) mods will work on SkyrimVR without any tricks required. You can usually just use them normally.

If you want to expand your modding experience and find even more moddable games, we strongly recommend joining the Skyrim VR subreddit and browsing through its content.

Preferences, Mod Manager, and Load Order

When it comes to specific graphics mods, remember that everyone has their own personal preference for them. So if you don’t see something listed here that you think would be useful, feel free to add it yourself!

If you want to stream line things even further, you could use one of these two mod managers. We recommend either Mod Organizer2 if you’re extremely new or Vortex, which is connected to Nexus Mods so its pretty straight forward too.

As for Load Order, you want to arrange your mods so that the ones that are more generic load first (i.e., the ones that affect more things) and then the ones that are more specific load after them (i.e., those that affect less).

For example, if there was a way to change all the objects in the game into a certain texture, you would add that texture-changing module before any other modules.

Sometimes there are patches that fix conflicts between two different mod packs. If you’re using one of these patches, be sure to load them after both of the other mod packs.

Required Tools and Plugins for Skyrim VR Mods

SKSEVR

It’s a scripting extension which allows other scripts to be used by other scripts. Some of the most popular extensions include the “Addon Manager” and “Auto Installer”.

SkyUI VR

It’s a UI replacement mod that makes things easier to use and navigate, and the VR version is especially designed for VR. Other mods may need this mod too.

VRIK

You won’t be able to play Skyrim VR without having a full-length version of the game installed. If you want to play Skyrim VR, you need to install the game from Steam.

VRIK fixes that by providing a full-bodied avatar to look at. Additionally, it also provides weapons holsters on your own torso as well as gesture-driven spell casting and equipment and spells.

All of these things are driven by inverse kinematic animation. Requires SKSEVR.

HIGGS VR

With VRIK, HIGHSVR really turns Skyrim VR into something that seems like it was designed specifically for VR.

This modification adds hand collision detection, object grabbing, and even allows you to wear gravitons (like in Half-Life: Alyx) to grab objects. It requires SKSE VR and SkyUI.

VR FPS Stabilizer

If you’re running a powerful computer, Skyrim VR may be too demanding for your hardware. Installing lots of mods could cause your computer to slow down.

It doesn’t fix everything, but it helps keep a consistent frame rate and avoids reprojection issues and FPS drops. Definitely recommended for everyone. Requires SKSESVR.

Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch

It fixes a lot of bugs that Bethesda never fixed and it works for both the PC version and the VR edition.

Best Immersion Skyrim VR Mods

True 3D Sound

It’s weird that you need to enable this, but here we are! This mod ensures that sound comes from the right place in 3D world when you’re in VR mode. It really helps with immersion.

Be Seated VR

This mod is simple. It allows you to sit down and use bed anywhere. It’s a pretty cool immersion perk to actually feel like you’re part of the world more!

Natural Locomotion

This isn’t actually an addon, but it’s a plug-in that allows you to manipulate your characters’ movements in virtual reality by controlling them in real life.

So if you’re swinging your arms or using trackers on your feet, you can do so in real life instead of the analog stick, allowing you to get into a much more immersive experience. It’s the next closest alternative to a VR TreadMill like the Katwalk.

Dragonborn Speaks Naturally

You can now speak through your microphone instead of using the controller buttons to select dialogue choices. It’s a bit tricky to set up, though.

SkyVoice Reloaded VR

You know how in Skyrim your characters “shout” dragon words to perform special actions? Well, this allows you to actually speak these words aloud to activate the powers. This is an enormous immersion boost.

Conclusion

To play Skyrim VR without any modding, you need a good headset (such as the Oculus Quest), a high-end PC, and some patience.

However, if you’re willing to install lots of modded content, then you’ll need a powerful PC and lots of time.
