The annual Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) speedrunning marathon is returning for its 2023 edition on January 8th, running until January 15th. This year’s event will see skilled players competing to finish games as quickly as possible, with the possibility of seeing world records being broken.

AGDQ to be Held Entirely Online

For the third year in a row, AGDQ will be held entirely online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The event was originally planned to take place in Florida with a live audience, but organizers decided against it due to the state’s

“continued disregard for COVID-19’s dangers (including anti-mandate vaccination policies) and an increased aggression towards LGBTQ+ individuals.”

They stated that they “do not believe it is a safe place for our community at this time,” and that relocating to a “safer location” was not financially feasible.

As a result of the online format, speedrunners will not have an in-person crowd to cheer them on during the marathon.

How to Watch

The entire event will be streamed on Twitch via the Games Done Quick channel, and can also be watched through the embedded stream below. If you are unable to watch the marathon live, you can catch up on missed runs or rewatch your favorites on the GDQ YouTube channel.
