A prominent Grand Theft Auto insider, Tez2, has warned players on PC of a security issue that can be quite scary for many players. He suggested that it might not be worth playing until Rockstar Games have solved the issue further. However, console players should be safe as long as they do not run the game on a PC, such as the Steam Deck.

Why You Should Hold Off Playing GTA?

Tez2 shared on Twitter that PC players are once again being targeted by hackers, and this time calling it extreme. He also warned that cheaters could add, remove, and/or modify player stats and corrupt their account, which could lead to it being deleted. It has been suggested to play with a firewall rule installed or simply not play at all.

Personal Experience

While we were playing one of our friends was targeted and couldn’t escape the hacker, leading to multiple deaths and losing all their weapons.

Why is This Happening?

There is no information on how things got this bad, but this is not the first time a security issue like this has happened. Rockstar Games has done many ban waves, but it doesn’t seem to be getting rid of all the hackers. The holiday season may have left fewer workers on sight to work on these issues, but it is still frustrating for players.

Conclusion

For now, players should be cautious while playing Grand Theft Auto Online, consider getting a firewall or avoid playing until Rockstar Games has an opportunity to fix the security issue. Hopefully, the problem will be under control soon.
