Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is now available for download, and it has undoubtedly brought a wide variety of new features to the game.

However, one thing has not changed – a new season always brings new challenges to overcome, so it’s no wonder that chapter four kicks off with the usual launch day challenges.

There are also some Explorer Queries that encourage you to explore the new maps. We’ll go into detail about them below so that you can get started earning XP for completing them.

Explorer Challenges

There are nine Explorer Challenges to complete. They mostly just require you to explore the new maps and use their new features. Each one gives you 20,000 XP when completed.

That’s not all, we have more news.

The Citadel, Anvil Square, and Shattered Slabs

You’ll need to look for Oathbound Chests, but they may be found in the medieval parts of the island. We’re still testing this theory, so keep an eye out!

These regions are located on the left side and lower right corner of the map. They’re easy to identify because they contain lots of autumnal trees and old buildings made of wooden materials.

Furthermore, while these chests don’t contain the only Shockwave Hammer you’ll require for a challenge, they seem to be more likely to drop one than any others.

You’ll be able to complete challenges by landing at specific locations in the world. These locations will mark a few points of interest (POI) with a golden name on your worldview.

Be careful when choosing where to land. You may end up having to fight for the spot.

You need to press the right buttons to select and use your Reality Augments during the game.

More Challenges

The full list of challenges is below.

  • Land on the new island
  • Visit The Citadel, Anvil Square, and Shattered Slabs
  • Search Oathbound Chests
  • Collect a Shockwave Hammer and an Ex-Caliber Rifle in a single match
  • Activate Augments
  • Land at hot spots
  • Eliminate opponents
  • Hurdle over objects
  • Reach 10 players remaining in a match

Launch Week Challenges

You’ll be able to complete seven launch week challenges which grant you 16,000 experience points each. These challenges require you to do things that you probably would’ve done naturally if you were playing normally.

  • Damage opponents while Augmented
  • Damage opponents with new or unvaulted weapons
  • Open chests in hot spots
  • Visit newly named locations in a single match
  • Earn XP in creator mode experiences
  • Bounce with the Shockwave Hammer
  • Travel distance on the Dirt Bike
