Dell’s Concept Nyx is a server that allows users to play games on screens throughout their homes. With this technology, users can start a game on their bedroom TV and continue it on their living room TV, or share a larger screen with someone else.

While the concept has potential, some critics were not convinced after trying it out, citing a cluttered display as a drawback.

PC Gamepad

Dell and Alienware have revealed a new addition to the Concept Nyx line: a PC gamepad.

Featuring

The controller combines elements of the Steam Controller, DualSense, and the latest Xbox controller, featuring

  • a trackpad
  • directional pad
  • two analog sticks
  • a standard face
  • top buttons
  • adaptive triggers

It also has two rear shift buttons and dual scroll wheels on the bottom for easy settings adjustments. The top buttons also have capacitive sensing, allowing users to slide their fingers across them for different effects.

The Nyx gamepad is an improvement on Dell’s previous “UFO” controller, and is designed with sturdy build quality and a familiar Xbox-like feel.

Criticism

However, Nyx’s lack of a traditional directional pad has drawn criticism from some. The gamepad’s compatibility and overall performance were not able to be tested during the demo.

The Steam Controller, which also featured circular trackpads, received mixed reviews upon its release. Many believe that the standard design of console controllers has proven to be the most effective.
