Buyer’s Guide

We don’t blame you if you’re confused when trying to find the right VR headset for your home. It can be a confusing process, especially if you’re not very tech-savvy.

Plus, a VR headset is not exactly an easily replaceable product. Hence, you must ensure you make the right decision in that first shot since it can be very difficult to buy another one.

Luckily, there are some key factors and considerations you can think about to make an informed decision. To find the best VR headset for yourself, you must first assess what your needs are. Then, you can find one that fulfills those needs and then buy it.

The factors you must consider when browsing for a VR headset include:

Price

First off, you must look at what your budget is and how much you’re willing to spend on a VR headset.

Depending on how much money you can spend, you can opt for a simple and rudimentary headset or a state-of-the-art headset with tons of features.

It’s all about figuring out what features a headset can have and whether or not its price justifies the level of features or not.

Mobile-based VR headsets are very cheap, for example. However, standalone and PC VR headsets are comparatively expensive.

This gap in price is justified by the fact that the technology behind the latter is much more advanced. Thus, they can offer you a much more high-quality VR experience than the former.

Of course, if your budget doesn’t allow you to opt for the latter, then you’re restricted to mobile VR headsets.

However, you must also consider that within that sub-category, there exist further different price ranges. It’s your job as a consumer to figure out how many features you want and how much you’re willing to spend on those features.

On the other hand, if you see a VR headset with a lot of features and a super cheap price, be wary of it. There’s a high chance that such a product may be counterfeit or simply made from low-quality materials.

User-Friendliness

It’s important that the VR headset you get is easy to configure and also easy to use.

Some of the cheapest VR headsets out there often come with no internal memory. This can oftentimes be annoying because they don’t save any settings. Thus, whenever you want to use the VR headset, you have to configure it once more.

Depending on how well-optimized the menus of the VR headset are, this configuration can take anywhere from a few minutes to over half an hour.

Thus, do your best to read product reviews so you don’t get stuck with such a VR headset. Naturally, everybody wants a VR headset that offers a user-friendly experience that is streamlined and focuses on getting you into the VR experience as soon as possible.

Design and Comfort

Many cheaper VR headsets are often constructed with little to no thought in mind when it comes to the comfort of the user. Thus, they can often lack essential features such as an adjustable head strap, adjustable lenses, and proper cushioning.

These can often hinder the user and result in a very unpleasant experience. If you’ve ever used a VR headset with poor cushioning, you’ll know how annoying it is.

As you can probably expect, this hinders your immersion and turns what is supposed to be an enjoyable experience into an unbearable one.

It’s a good idea to buy a VR headset in person because then, you can try it out for yourself and see how it fits your head. Not only that but you can try out its adjustability options for yourself to ensure you can get it into the most ergonomic shape possible.

On the other hand, if you can’t buy a VR headset in person or just simply want to buy it online for whatever reason, it can be difficult to gauge its comfort. In this case, you have to rely on online reviews, pictures, and videos of the VR headset.

Build Quality

Once again, this factor is another reason why we encourage people to buy VR headsets in person. The build quality is something that you can really inspect for yourself before you actually purchase the VR headset.

You can feel the material it’s made of, test out its durability, and gauge if it’ll be long-lasting or not. On the other hand, if you shop online, then you’ll have to rely on user reviews.

It’s a good idea to look for user reviews that also have successive updates after some period of time. This is when the reviewers post updates on how the product is performing after some time of use.

These reviews can help you gauge how well a VR headset will run in the long term.

Field of View (FOV)

The field of view (FOV) of a headset is defined as how much a person is able to see at any one given time. The wider the FOV, the less you have to move and look around to take in your surroundings.

On the other hand, if you have a narrow FOV, things can feel claustrophobic. You’d have to look around a lot more to take everything around you.

Usually, it’s a good idea to opt for a VR headset with a wider FOV (somewhere between 105 and 120 degrees).

Not only is this better because you’ll have to look around less to take in your environment but also because it’s closer to actual human vision.

This ensures that you have a much more realistic experience and also ensures that your chances of being nauseous are lower.

Wrapping Things Up

That concludes our Cylo VR Headset review.

Ultimately, we must say that we are super surprised. Given its super cheap price, we didn’t even expect this headset to work, let alone work so well.

Its adjustability options are great and ensure anyone can use it. Furthermore, it’s super easy to use too which is why it’s a great option for people looking to get into VR.
