Design & Features

Concept

The idea behind a screen bar is easy to understand – it’s just a bar (of light) for your screen which can be broken down into two words.

The Halo is exactly as it sounds – a cylindrical bar with many LED lights inside to provide lighting.

How Does it work?

This monitor bar is attached to the monitor using a hinged mechanism that clamps onto the back of the monitor.

Additionally, there’s one more light on the back which helps balance out the lighting from the bar – an added perk that comes with no other screen bars.

Extra Webcam Accessory

Make sure your webcam works correctly by getting the additional webcam accessory.

While it may be an extra expense, the stability and security this provides make up for the price – in comparison to if you relied on balancing or some other methods of keeping it in place on the bar.

Change the Size of the Illuminated Area

The bar itself can be rotated to direct the light and change the size of the illuminated area – more on that later – and it’s all finished in a nice matte metal look. One that’ll blend into any setup.

Powered

Thanks to its USB connection, the bar is tidy and without a need for any extra cables on or around the desk.

Nevertheless, it can still be plugged into any USB port with sufficient power – if it doesn’t get enough power, it’ll flash at you.

Control Unit

One very stylish last feature is the control unit, which is wireless and separate from the bar, unlike other bars where buttons are built right onto them and require a bit of jiggling or knocking out of place to change settings. The BenQ ScreenBar Halo has this.

Performance & Usability

With the wireless control unit, using the Halo is effortless. It’s incredibly simple to communicate with and alter settings quickly.

Wide Coverage

Additionally, its performance is remarkable. It’s almost like sorcery how it distributes and bounces light around in such a confined space to make a wide range of coverage.

Through its reflective properties, this tube can cast an immense spread of light, relieving my eyes from strain and eliminating all screen glare or reflections.

Whether you’re working or playing, this thing lights up the surrounding area rather than your screen directly, making it much better than other desk lamp approaches.

We have covered more about the latest technologies, their updates, findings and more here.

Backlight

The backlight feature is often overlooked, however, it’s a great way to make my workspace feel more inviting and luminous. The backlight helps to create a gentle transition between the lit area and the dark, thereby reducing eye strain.

Regular use during the day and at night has let us thoroughly test Screenbar in many natural-light conditions.
