According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple isn’t selling as many midrange iPhones as expected. As a result of this, Cupertino is anticipated to either halt or delay the release of the iPhone SE 4 until 2024.

Why?

Considering that the new iPhone SE has a full-screen design which is more expensive to manufacture, the company must reconsider its strategy and pricing.

The analyst suggested that cutting back and delaying the launch of the new phone would help curb “unnecessary new product development expenses” and aid the company in dealing with “the difficulties caused by the 2023 global economic recession.”

Based on the iPhone XR

Earlier renderings indicate that the forthcoming iPhone SE 4, probably called iPhone SE (2024), will be modeled after the iPhone XR.

The X generation was the first to discard Touch ID and only have Face ID for biometric authentication, and now it’s likely that the SE series will follow in those footsteps whenever it is launched.

Chipset

Apple typically launches the iPhone SE during springtime, which means we can expect at least 15 months until it arrives.

We can be certain that the chipset will be the most updated feature compared to the iPhone XR, aiding in better picture quality and a smoother iOS experience.

Price Range

Some may argue that Apple overloads its smartphone lineup, while others may say that they have varying iPhones to fit any budget.

Although it was previously expensive to buy an iPhone, you can now purchase one for $430 brand new. Though aesthetics may not be the most modern, the iPhone SE 3 is still feature-packed and fairly priced.

Despite having a decent track record, there’s always the possibility that things will shift by 2024, so we still have some time to go.

Smaller High-End iPhone

It’s worth noting that Apple has tried this before with their iPhone Mini 12 and iPhone Mini 13; despite it being a high-end phone, sales were not that great, and the company stopped producing them after two years.

Even though smaller phones are cute and you can fit them in your pocket easily, the market doesn’t seem to be interested in buying them. Even if it was offered at a low price, there may not be any space for a product like the iPhone SE.

Apple still has plenty of time to change its mind, which means nothing is definite yet.
