Google has been working on its next generation of Android Auto for some time now, but the company didn’t release any details about the upcoming version until recently. Now, however, we know when the new version will be released.

Redesign on Cars

A number of users on the Reddit community for Android Auto have reported that they’ve seen their cars switch from the old design to the new one.

Users who saw the new design say that it happened quickly, with at least some reporting that they went into a shop on the old interface and came out with the new one installed.

Coolwalk

It appears that Google originally blocked cars with rotary inputs from using CoolWalk, presumably while they were working on making their car navigation app better suited to that type of interface.

Despite being enrolled in the test group and having access to the new user interface, some people reported that they were unable to switch from the old interface to the new one.

Bug

Notably, too, an older version of Android Auto had a bug where it would sometimes break the rotary phone function. But that doesn’t seem related.

Touchscreens

Touchscreens are far more common in modern vehicles than they are in natively supporting Android Auto, but it isn’t unusual to find this type of control in vehicles from Mazda, BMW, or Acura among others.

Huawei is planning to release two new smartphones. We’ve covered the model of those Huawei phones and the date of release in our complete article, check it out.

Android Auto Beta Program

You need an Android Auto beta version to access the CoolWalk design, but the program has been fully available for the past few weeks since Google first announced its availability.

It’s unclear when Google plans to launch its redesigned mobile search results page for all users, but it’s good to know they’re making progress.
