In a few weeks, the CES trade show will kick off with an opening keynote delivered by AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su. Her speech in Las Vegas will focus on AMD’s vision for the future.

During the live-stream keynote on January 4, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. from the Venetian, expect to hear about AMD’s upcoming Zen 4 CPUs with 3D Cache and other additions to the RDNA3 GPU family.

People were initially very excited about the launch of Zen 4 CPUs with V-Cache, however, the existence of V-Cache CPU before this announcement ended up dampening enthusiasm.

New Zen 4 Expectations

Even though the AMD 5800X3D CPU was so competitive compared to the new architecture, AMD didn’t include it in their comparisons. Intel also attempted to hide the 5800X3D in their Raptor Lake comparison slides. People are excited about the potential of V-Cache CPUs enhancing performance in games when implemented on Zen 4 as well.

Breaking the Tradition

Breaking from tradition, the company is expected to declare three V-Cache CPUs, rather than its usual single X3D CPU announcement near the close of the AM4 system’s lifecycle.

Intel’s Raptor Lake is a major competitive challenge to AMD this time since it is just as fast and cheaper to upgrade to than AMD’s new CPUs.

Because of this, speculation has it that they are moving the announcement forward in order to stay one step ahead of Intel.

AMD CEO Expected to Announce Zen 4 X3D, RDNA3 GPUs at CES Opening Keynote

Introducing Mainstream Lineup for Zen 4

Dr. Su is probably going to be introducing the mainstream lineup for Zen 4. These are usually more budget-friendly compared to the X versions and typically consist of the 7600, 7700, etc.

AMD is expected to soon launch their 8000 series mobile lineup as well as their previously mentioned Dragon Range CPUs. This was declared during an investor call in May, but we have not had any updates ever since.

The company, however, vowed to offer the highest “thread, core, and cache” amounts ever for a CPU specifically designed for mobile gaming.

Even though Intel is currently preparing a 24-core Raptor Lake mobile chip and AMD will almost certainly unveil its Phoenix APUs, that’s still a very ambitious goal.

AMD has only unveiled its top-end RDNA3 GPUs, so expectations are high for the RX 7800 XT and possibly the RX 7700 XT. Nvidia is yet to make any announcement regarding their mid-range GPUs.

Price of Zen 4

With consumers wanting a cost-efficient GPU with up-to-date architecture, Nvidia is likely to announce their canceled RTX 4080 Ti at CES – which will now be known as the RTX 4070 Ti.

Although the pricing isn’t set yet, Nvidia typically has high pricing giving AMD the opportunity to offer a lower price point.

“I am excited for the opportunity to deliver a keynote at CES 2023 to highlight the next generation of high-performance and adaptive computing innovations, and products that will push the boundaries on what is possible and play an important role helping solve our most important challenges,” said Dr. Su in the announcement.
