This OLED TV is 55 inches, runs on batteries, and only weighs 20 pounds.

CES is known for its extravagant tech innovations and the 2021 event looks to carry on the tradition – such as a company revealing the ‘world’s first’ wireless OLED TV.

Highly Portable OLED

The OLED is said to be ultra-lightweight at only 20 pounds and its battery can last for about 30 days before needing to be recharged.

This 55-inch TV, produced by the company that makes it, can be held in place on any surface without needing to be mounted due to its unique active-loop vacuum technology.

Don’t forget to check the other latest releases and news.

Even more exciting is the capability of the TV to be controlled through hand gestures in addition to voice and touch commands, allowing for the creation of a bigger screen from several TVs.

US firm Displace will be manufacturing the television, aptly named The Displace TV, as their debut product.

Displace stated that the availability of the TV will begin on late 2023, with pre-orders listed on its website from January 5th – the day of the beginning of CES 2023.

What is the Mechanism Behind Truly Wireless OLEDs?

According to a press release sent to Tom’s Guide and data collected by FlatPanels HD, the OLED created by Displace doesn’t have many functionalities.

Instead, it needs an external base station that is connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into a wall socket.

FlatPanels HD reports that the TV’s base unit is powered by an AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU, providing Wi-Fi 6E compatibility so it can stream directly to the TV.

Why Hasn’t One of the Prominent Brands Such as Sony or Lg Adopted This Method Prior?

Likely, there are multiple reasons for this. One reason is that it necessitates the creation of a custom battery pack in order to power the TV.

Displace states that the battery life is around 30 days with 6 hours of viewing daily; however, there’s no information on how long it will take to charge between uses.

Other Issue

The only downside to the base station is that it can’t be taken with you, like to the beach, despite allowing the TV to remain portable.

An issue with the product that would otherwise be quite innovative is that it requires an outlet for it to work, making it impossible to bring anywhere but into a backyard or another room.

Despite this, there is still not much known about how the base station and the TV interact, however, more details are anticipated to come out of CES.

Don’t forget that CES 2023 begins on Wednesday, January 4.
