As of January 2024, there are over 1.13 billion websites on the internet, 82% of which are inactive. This means there are “only” about 203.4 million active websites to be enjoyed by the roughly 5.3 billion active internet users. This can seem like a 25/1 ratio of users per website, but we all know that most of these five billion users congregate on the biggest social media sites and rarely venture to most of the more niche websites out there.

Below, we’ve compiled a quick list of eight of the most underrated websites. Obviously, this is largely subjective, as most of the 203.4 million websites out there can be described as “underrated,” and everyone would have different favorites among them. Still, if you’re looking for something new, take a look at the suggestions below.

8. SuperCook (supercook.com)

Whether you love cooking or avoid it like the plague because it’s too time-consuming, SuperCook.com might be the perfect site for you. The whole site functions as a cookbook in reverse; instead of looking for specific recipes and reading their ingredients, with SuperCook, you do the opposite. You input the ingredients you have at home, and the site will suggest various recipes based on them – and only them. This way, you’ll always have simple recipe ideas without having to overthink them or do any extra shopping.

7. Hotspot 3D (hotspot3d.com)

New smartphones are coming out increasingly often. In 2024, we’re expecting the iPhone 16, Galaxy S24, Google Pixel 9, OnePlus 12, Xiaomi 14, Oppo Find X7, and others. With so many smartphones to choose from, picking the right one can feel overwhelming. This is where Hotspot3D.com comes in, as this site allows you to visually compare every two smartphone models currently on the market in 3D. The site is still in beta, so it will hopefully only get better.

6. It’s Nicky Case! (ncase.me)

Gamers and those who love brain teasers will appreciate Ncase.me. The site plays a rather interesting game that explores the dynamics of trust and miscommunication. The idea is based on the famous World War I temporary truce between British and German soldiers who came out of the trenches on Christmas Day to celebrate together and exchange gifts.

5. The Dice Tower (dicetower.com)

It’s fair to say that board games are a grossly underrated hobby, and so are websites about them. The Dice Tower is a perfect example of that. This site contains countless reviews, top 10 lists, game highlights, events, and videos. If you’re accustomed to browsing video game review sites or online casino review sites, including those that feature a Borgata PA bonus code and review, the Dice Tower has all that and more for board games.

4. Nautilus (nautil.us)

If you like learning more about curious topics such as history, science, psychology, and famous people’s autobiographies but have trouble finding a well-written and trustworthy site on those topics, take a look at Nautilus. This site is a grossly underrated treasure trove of impeccably written articles on various topics. If you’re looking to kill some time in a good way, nautil.us presents a much better option than just aimlessly scrolling through social media.

3. Forgotify (forgotify.com)

We’ve all heard of Spotify, and many of us use it daily. However, there is no denying that the popular music catalog has its problems – from giving too little revenue to artists to prioritizing popular creators over indie artists. That last part makes Spotify ill-suited for people wanting to discover new and underrated musicians. This is where Forgotify shines.

Instead of featuring all the popular music that’s constantly playing on the radio anyway, Forgotify presents millions of niche and indie artists that few have heard about but who produce brilliant music. Or, as the site’s tagline goes: “Millions of songs on Spotify have been forgotten. Let’s give them new life in new ears – yours.”

2. Neal.fun

Granted, we didn’t mention Neal.fun in our recent list of the best gaming websites. That’s because Neal.fun is just a tiny website by Neal, as its own tagline states. If you love games, however, you owe it to yourself to visit it and try the dozens of great games and fun websites on it, such as Asteroid Launcher, Absurd Trolley Problems, The Password Game, and Draw a Perfect Circle.

1. 1001 Albums Generator (1001albumsgenerator.com)

1001albumsgenerator.com is another underrated gem for music lovers. Once you register, the site suggests one new album to listen to every day for 1001 straight days. The albums, each a timeless classic from a different genre, are taken from the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The site also has a ratings and reviews function, so you’re not just a passive listener. If you’re looking for another way to spice up your musical pallet, 1001 Albums Generator offers a great new hobby for the next 2.74 years.

Conclusion

Maybe none of these is to your liking, or perhaps you have a favorite underrated website that few people know about. After all, there are literally millions of underrated websites out there. Nevertheless, we are quite fond of the eight sites above because they all offer great value and thus deserve much more attention than they are getting.
